The classic pairing. Ajmer Sharif Dargah in the morning, then the twenty-minute hop over the hill to Pushkar for the lake, the Brahma temple and the bazaar. Allow ten hours door to door.
2. Abhaneri and Bhandarej — 95 km
Chand Baori, the thousand-year-old stepwell with more than three thousand steps, is one of the most photographed structures in Rajasthan and takes about ninety minutes to reach. Pair it with Bhandarej for lunch.
3. Bhangarh Fort — 85 km
The famous ruined fort near Sariska. Go early: the site closes before sunset and the last stretch of road is slow. A half-day is enough.
4. Samode — 45 km
The closest option on this list. A palace, a haveli and a village of block printers, all inside an hour of the city. Good for a lazy start.
5. Sariska Tiger Reserve — 110 km
Safari slots are morning and afternoon, and they book out. Reach the gate by 6 am for the first slot; the drive from Jaipur takes just over two hours.
6. Tonk — 100 km
Quiet, under-visited, and full of Mughal and Rajput architecture. The Sunehri Kothi is worth the trip on its own.
7. Chaksu and Bagru — 40 km
Bagru is where a lot of Jaipur block printing actually happens. Workshops welcome visitors, and you will be home well before dark.
